The „White Woman" from Ebersberg Forest
The public highway 2080 leads directly through Ebersberg Forest and connects the villages Forstinning and Ebersberg which are both situated at the border of the woodland. Directly at the road-side is the small Hubertus Chapel. It is said that near to it in some nights appear a white woman who hitchhikes. This appearance should be a ghost. According to reports the woman and her two children were killed in a traffic accident whereby the responsible of the accident left the scene. Therefore she still has not found peace and looks in the night for the fled driver. When she is picked up, she will suddenly disappear after a few kilometres without a trace. When she is not picked up, she will shortly afterwards appear in the car and will cause a severe accident. And indeed, there are always happen mysterious car accidents on the road.
Light Appearances in Ebersberg Forest
More often than the white woman, mysterious light appearances can be observed in the wood. These lights should appear in various levels of height (sometimes directly above the soil or also in the crowns of the trees), should move, change intensity and/or the colour, just to fade away again in the end. Some witnesses even declared to have been followed by such a light. The origin of these jack-o'-lanterns is unsettled till today, even if there are some theories that should deliver an explanation:
a)It is said to be the lights of cars, driving along the B 12, a road highway, adjacent northwards to Ebersberg Forest. When looking at the map of this region, it can really be stated that the wood-paths are "straight" and that some of them lead indeed to the B12. But how can headlights be in different heights and change their colours into a sappy green or blue?
b)It could be reflections. Hereby, the light of the own torch or the headlight of the own car should be reflected by objects like traffic signs or other suited surfaces.
c)The luminaries might be caused by glow-worms or mushrooms that possess of bio-luminous features. In this case it is questionable why it is impossible to approach the lights or to discern the cause.
d)Probably it could be gas coming from the earth which catches fire itself and creates some kind of a "fireball".
By trying to find details about the accident in regard to the story of the "white woman from Ebersberg", problems will be really met. Up to now, it has failed to connect the report of the event with an accident which has really happened on the S2080. Also the editor's office of "World of Wonders" has tried to research detailed facts. In this connection they contacted Antje Berberich who is responsible for the archive of Ebersberg town. Mrs. Berberich affirms that such a tragic accident has not been registered in the chronicles.
Up to now, no exact dates could be determined, neither the identity of the victim of the accident nor the date of the event – this could, of course, point to a so-called "urban legend". Nevertheless, it is incontrovertible that severe accidents really happen in this road segment. The light of candles call the attention to a memorial place which reminds of one of these tragic accidents. On the commemorative tablet it is to read: Bojan (*23.05.1983), Toni (*07.07.1983), died in the car accident on 24.04.2009.
The two 25 year old from Ebersberg were driving in direction Forstinning with their BMW. They lost their track after a passing maneuver and crashed with the top of their car against a tree. The both men were dead on the spot.
Consequently till today it is unsettled if the accident described in the legend would have really happened. So, nothing can be said about how long the assumed haunting in Ebersberg Forest has been already taking place. But it can be proceeded from a "longer period".
It seems to me as if this is a real event that you are discussing but I will assume it just as an independent prose. The way you have told the story was documentary like and as if you were stating facts.
It is hard to consider a work with such a tone but I will say that since it seems to seem alright after having read it, you have done a fine job with it other than a small mistake in the first para last line:
"And indeed, there are always happen mysterious..."
The bold word should be removed.
Now coming to the theme or content. It started well, it had the emotionless yet a slightly uneasy feeling to it about the white woman and I was hoping that it would be related to the lights and all but it seemed to diverge and turned into a totally different story. That seemed to take the fun out of it and the ending felt sort of empty.
Ending it on a mysterious note or perhaps a scary one would suit the prose and saying it can be proceeded from a "longer period" seemed quite anti climactic. So I think this prose can be worked on - even if it is based on real myth, you can work on to make it come out better.
