Animals in Winter

Now the world rests so white and still.
The sky is overcast with snow.
Meadows, woods and fields are
Firmly captivated in winter.

Life has well hidden,
Seems to observe only with timidity.
But hare and venison migrate lively.
I see the traces in the snow.

They are looking for food that
Nature still provides for them only sparsely.
The frost, it carries on too much.
A hard time for animals.

Therefore we will preserve them carefully.
The manger at the forest edge is richly equipped.

Animals in the country happy!
